Ten little ducks, all lined up in a row, were on the wall just waiting for Kitty Kat to count them. Little mouse was learning to count as well. Out on the playground all the kittens ran to play. “Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, / go outside and play.” / “Yippee, Teacher, my / favorite time of day.” The little gray and white kitten was pretty good at jumping rope, but maybe little mouse was even better. After play it was time for a snack. Yum, yum! Can you guess what Kitty Kat had to eat? What do you think the little mouse had for his snack?
This is a charming little tale of Kitty Cat and little mouse’s day at school that young children will love. Of course this is really a story about Kitty Cat, but we see that little brown mouse as he tags along to share that day at school. The artwork, rendered in watercolors and pencil, is whimsical and quite adorable. This story in rhyme is told in ballad form (every second and fourth line rhymes) and is simple, yet quite effective in relaying just how much Kitty Kat is enjoying his day. If you have a preschooler who is looking forward to school, this is a perfect book to show just how much fun can be had at school from singing to nap time.
Quill says: This is a tale that is totally delightful and the perfect addition to any preschool Kitty Kat collection!
