Book Expo in Pictures

Trying to catch up after attending Book Expo America in New York City last week.  It is a GREAT place to meet other authors, see what's new and trending in the book trade and just have an all-around good time.

BEA is an annual event that has been held the last few years in
New York City at the Javits Center.  It used to be held in a different part of the country each year but has recently held tight to the New York venue.  I believe this decision was made in part to encourage publishers, many (most?) who hail from the NYC area, to attend.  I hope the show stays in NYC because, from a purely selfish point, it's really convenient for me.

This aisle was unusually empty - most were packed

We were planning on spending two days at the show, but between getting a late start and running into a lot of traffic, we got into the city late on Thursday afternoon.  We opted to rest, have a nice dinner and start fresh in the morning.  So glad we did because I needed the rest!

We arrived fairly early on Friday and spent all day at BEA.  We were exhausted by the end of the day, my feet were sore and my shoulders were killing me from the book bag straps - I had a huge stash of galleys and new books that I was given and had to carry around all day.  But I'm not complaining, it was a TON of fun!

Meeting Julianne Moore

Great way to market book!

Meeting Jim Carrey - he has a new children's book coming out in the fall.

Just a small sample of the great new books I came home with - all free!
