Planning to take your monster on a road trip? Then you'll want to take the new book Travel Guide for Monsters with you to learn all you'll need to know for your trip.

Told in rhyme, Travel Guide for Monsters starts its cross-country trip in California and goes all the way through the country to the East Coast. The first bit of advice the author gives is:

When traveling with monsters
on a trip across the nation,
this guide will give you tips
to have a marvelous vacation.

The first monster we meet is having fun in San Francisco, riding on a cable car. Note that he's not in the cable car, but on the cable car, on the top of the vehicle to be exact. And the ups and downs of the hills appear to be making the poor beast a bit nauseous. Turn the page and while we're still in California, we're now in Hollywood where a different monster has spotted a celebrity driving away in a car. The happy monster wants an autograph and so he picks up the star's car to get her attention. The travel guide advises that it's probably best not to pick up a star's car.

Onward we travel, with stops in Wyoming, Illinois, Florida and even Massachusetts where a purple, six-eyed monster is having a lobstah feast in the bay. 

You'll know you've reached the ocean
when you can't drive farther east.
Your monster needs to understand,
it's not his private feast.

Travel Guide for Mosnters is a very fun book and definitely unique. Each page features a different monster at a different location, doing something silly. The rhymes work perfectly and add to the fun. The illustrator, Dave Szalay, has created a vast array of funny monsters that will make anyone want to take a cross-country trip with their favorite monster. A delightful book that belongs on your little one's reading shelf.
