Gosh darn it! Mama Bear is having one heck of a bad day! Nothing seems to be going right for the bear, and in this entertaining story, children will delight in seeing how Mama Bear deals with her troubles and how sweet, lovable Little Bear tries to help his mother.

The day starts with Mama Bear, dressed in pink bathrobe and bunny ear slippers, making breakfast. Alas, she burns the sardines and a “spatter of grease stung her paw…OUCH!” Maybe she should have just gone back to bed at that point! Alas, there are dishes to clean, shopping to do, and so much more so Mama Bear has no choice but to keep on with her disastrous day.

Each time Mama Bear has an unfortunate crisis (each a funny crisis, nothing serious to worry or frighten little ones), sweet Little Bear thinks about “…giving Mama Bear his super, so good, so very special dolly…” but instead, each time he offers something else. And each time, Mama Bear is so upset and preoccupied, that she doesn’t even see her little one. Later that day the bears have a visit from the most out-of-control family of baboons you’ve ever seen. Would the day ever end?

A Bad Mad Sad Day for Mama Bear is a delightful story about one day in the life of one very harried mother (how many of us can relate???!!!) and her adorable child. The ending is wonderful, with Mama Bear realizing what is the softest, bestest, most special gift of all. The author is to be applauded for including lots of fun words that will make reading this book all the more enjoyable. BOOM! CRASH! KNOCK! AH…AH…AH…CHOOH! Children will love reading this book out loud at bedtime or any time.

Quill says: Looking for a FUN book that will delight both mom and child? You’ve found it!
